Developing Strong Neighborhood Leaders for a Stronger St. Pete

Leadership 2026 applications are now OPEN.

Completed applications for CONA member associations and $150.00 tuition must be received no later than December 31st, 2025. Non member registration is $185. Class space is limited. Application submission does not guarantee acceptance. Attendance is expected at all classes and activities in order to graduate.The tuition fee includes the Orientation Session, all CONA Leadership classes, the CONA Leadership Class Project, other activities (including the St. Petersburg Historic Bus Tour), the graduation dinner, and a CONA Leadership Class diploma and pin.Should you have any questions, please reach out to leadership@stpetecona.org.

About the CONA Leadership Program

The CONA Leadership Program is a unique, immersive experience to develop and empower emerging community leaders. Since its founding in 1957, CONA has served as a vital connector for neighborhood, civic, and business associations across the city, advocating for strong, vibrant, and inclusive communities. This annual program is one of CONA’s most impactful initiatives.

You’ll explore how city government functions, build relationships with key decision-makers, and connect with a diverse network of neighbors dedicated to improving St. Pete.

Program Details
  • Schedule: Monday evenings, beginning late January each year

  • Tuition: $150 for CONA members, $185 for non-members

  • Scholarships: Available for new or forming neighborhood leaders—email for eligibility

Program Highlights

Expert-Led Sessions

Learn from city leaders, department directors, community advocates, and neighborhood organizers about policies, resources, and tools that shape our neighborhoods.

Roundtable with City Officials

Meet face-to-face with city leaders, including City Council members and department heads, in an open-dialogue format designed for collaboration and transparency.

Field Sessions at Iconic Locations

Sessions are held at engaging sites like City Hall and Boyd Hill’s Hammock Hall to ground learning in the places that shape policy and community.

Historic Bus Tour

Enjoy a Saturday morning journey through St. Pete’s rich history, led by the St. Petersburg Museum of History, followed by lunch and lively discussion.

Hands-On Community Project

Roll up your sleeves and work alongside your cohort on a neighborhood improvement project, putting your new leadership skills into action.

 

Celebration and Recognition

The program concludes with a graduation dinner where participants receive a Leadership Certificate and CONA Leadership Pin in recognition of their commitment and growth.
