About the Event

Join IDEAS For Us, the Sierra Club, CONA, St Pete Eco Club, and local community leaders for a special screening and conversation about the history of St. Petersburg’s Gas Plant Neighborhood.

Razed tells the story of the Gas Plant Neighborhood a thriving Black community that was displaced in the 1980s to make way for the construction of a baseball stadium. Through the voices of former residents, historians, and community leaders, the film explores the neighborhood’s history, the impact of displacement, and the ongoing conversation about memory, justice, and the future of the area.

The film was produced by Roundhouse Creative in partnership with Ms. Gwendolyn Reese of the St. Petersburg African American Heritage Association, alongside many former residents of the Gas Plant Neighborhood. The film’s launch and distribution are supported by the Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg.

Following the screening, stay for a panel discussion featuring the film’s director, historians, and community voices—including…
